Privacy policy — retire.js for Opera (and other Chromium browsers)
retire.js does not collect, store on any server or sell personal data, and it has no analytics, no tracking and no advertising.
What stays on your device
- The list of scripts and libraries found on each tab. It is kept in memory and in the browser's session storage, and is deleted when the tab closes or the page changes.
- The settings, the downloaded Retire.js database and the OSV.dev answer cache (at most 500 entries, none older than 7 days). They are kept in the extension's local storage and removed when you uninstall it.
Network requests the extension makes
1. Scripts of the page you are visiting. The extension reads them again (normally from the browser cache) to scan them, without cookies, HTTP authentication, Referer or redirects, and never towards your local network unless the page itself is on it.
2. Retire.js database. Once a day it downloads jsrepository-v6.json from raw.githubusercontent.com (GitHub). Nothing about you or your browsing is sent. The file is checked (structure, size, self-test) before use; if it is not valid the bundled copy stays in use. You can turn the update off in the panel ("Daily database update").
3. OSV.dev — off by default, only if you turn it on. Opera has no browser-level consent prompt for this, so consent is your click on "Turn on OSV.dev" in the panel or in the welcome page; until then no request is made. When on, it sends api.osv.dev (Google) only the name and version of the libraries found, for example lodash 4.17.15.
- It never sends page addresses, cookies or identifiers.
- You can turn it off at any time in the panel; the cached answers are then removed within a day.
