Total WebShield: Browser Antivirus Protection
Settings & Preferences
We locally store the current state of certain features such as whether or not WebShield or privacy protection settings are enabled or disabled, along with your WebShield whitelist preferences, if you have any set. This data never leaves your browser and is not sent or stored anywhere else.
Performance & Stats
In order for us to display the number of trackers we've blocked on each website, the total trackers blocked across all websites along with the number of times we’ve flagged particular online threats, we need to store this information locally. This data is only ever stored locally in your browser and is not sent or stored anywhere else. When any of this data is no longer needed for display purposes within the extension, it is removed entirely.
Events & User Interactions
To ensure you are presented with relevant content and updates we will store some data based on the events that take place while you have the extension installed as well as your interactions with it. This data also never leaves your browser and is not sent or stored anywhere else.
User Account Data
In order to provide you with a stress-free and streamlined experience across our websites and browser extension, if you are already logged into an account on one of our websites upon installation (totalwebshield.com or its parent company totalav.com), our extension will automatically log you into this account rather than starting a new trial period.
Otherwise, we will automatically create you an anonymous account allowing you to benefit from our features without providing any personal information. You will only need to provide additional information if you decide to upgrade to our premium service.
Any links from within the extension that direct you to our website will automatically log you in to save you having to do this manually.
Some of the data referenced above is also used to debug potential issues with our service.
When you have our WebShield & Suspicious Website features enabled, we send data about the domains being visited to some of our backend services in order to provide real-time protection against online threats. The domains you visit may be used for research purposes and to improve our services but these are stored completely anonymously and cannot be tied to your account in any way.
